But where to find something authentic, fresh and delicious? That’s an easy one: a few steps away is Foodie’s Piazza della Scala, a tiny place but highly visible thanks to its exceptional location.
Welcoming, comfortable, snug. The restaurant, previously an ice cream parlour, has been redesigned without losing its soul. The design work was based on recovering and re-using the equipment and the existing space, now optimised and made more functional in terms of commercial logic.
Although the separation of the counters may seem to contradict what we have just stated, in reality it creates two sales areas, promoting and encouraging sales on the street.
It may be idyllic in the spring to eat your meal in the open air, but in the colder months it can be torture. The mezzanine can provide safe anchorage. We use the word advisedly: just as an anchor exerts resistive forces to keep a ship still, so the mezzanine is held up by metal rods that keep it firm but light, still as a boat in harbour.
