Historic centre of Milan, connected to Piazza Duomo by the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Piazza San Babila has long been a meeting place for the well-to-do of Milan and even today it is distinguished by its upper class character and VIP clientele.
Foodie’s Borgogna is the restyling and revisiting of Sandrino’s ice cream parlour, the main features of which are still prized and made visible. A tangible example is the mezzanine, previously closed, now visible from the outside; and although its configuration leaves something to be desired, it has been improved and allowed a more functional use to be made of the space. Furthermore, the fitting of a steel parapet painted Foodie’s green makes the extra floor immediately recognisable.
The environment might be compressed but it is well organised and the L-shaped counter is perfectly functional, both for staff and especially for customers and their requirements.
